Get in touchA wonderfully written and evocative blog written for us by Paul McKeever, a regular Sunvil guest. In these uncertain times, his sentiments warmed our hearts.
Sun-kissed, extraordinarily beautiful and effortlessly enchanting, it’s easy to see why Greece’s most famous islands, from Crete and Corfu to Santorini to Mykonos, have long been popular with travellers the world over.
The Dodecanese islands have long been popular destinations for British holidaymakers, and it’s easy to see why. Their location at the south-eastern end of the Aegean Sea provides them with the warmest, sunniest climate, while it is this strategically important location which has led to a procession of battles, invasions and conquests, which in turn have created a colourful legacy in the form of architecture, archaeology and culture.
Take a drive around Naxos and the first thing that will surprise you is just how big the island is. Part of the Cyclades group of islands, with Mykonos to the north and the volcanic crater of Santorini to the south, Naxos appears on a map to be a typical small island; one which you could comfortably circle in a day’s driving.
